乐团简介
“Nox”一词源自拉丁语，代表黑夜；在希腊神话中，她是夜之女神，统辖梦境与死亡之境。
“Arcana”源于拉丁文“arcanum”的复数形式，意为“隐藏的真理”或“神秘知识”，也与塔罗牌中的“奥秘”符号密切相关。
Nox Arcana由知名哥特艺术家Joseph Vargo创立。他同时是Midnight Syndicate乐队的核心人物，该乐队成员也多数参与Nox Arcana的创作。Joseph深受黑暗题材启发，尤其从“Darklore Manor”这一概念中获得灵感，萌生了以传说鬼屋为背景创作音乐故事的想法。他联合作曲家与音乐家William Piotrowski，共同打造出这支充满叙事与神秘色彩的乐团。
团名“Nox Arcana”汲取自拉丁美洲神话意象，喻意“夜晚的奥秘”。乐团以Joseph Vargo与William Piotrowski为固定创作核心。
Joseph Vargo本身即是一位多才的黑暗艺术家，在成立NOX ARCANA前已为诸多哥特出版物创作封面与插画，并涉猎哥特文学。2003年他踏入音乐领域，与William Piotrowski——一位从15岁就开启音乐生涯、擅长键盘与合成的音乐人——共同打造NOX ARCANA。2003至2011年间，他们以吸血鬼、狼人、女巫、古堡、海盗等主题共推出16张专辑，构筑出一个恢诡阴暗的音乐宇宙。尽管低调，但来自美国的Midnight Syndicate无疑开创了暗黑氛围音乐的先河，其影响力甚至延展至中国，被众多乐迷奉为暗黑系音乐经典。
两位天才：Joseph Vargo与William Piotrowski

本专辑以纯粹的哥特暗氛围风格，构建出一个基于真实传说的诡异故事。音乐中弥漫阴郁与厚重感，令人联想维多利亚时期的古堡与灵异事件。第十一曲《Nursery rhyme》描绘了一个被诅咒的音乐盒，旋律中弥漫着无法驱散的哀伤，暗示家族悲剧的命运。
Darklore家族与其庄园的历史沉浸于血与暗影之中。这座位于马萨诸塞州Salem海岸旁的维多利亚建筑，自殖民时代就被称为“幽灵徘徊之地”。1892年由Edmund Darklore为妻子Delarosa所建，施工期间便频发死亡事件，1941年最后的主人一家更离奇失踪，庄园自此荒废。
